Lawrence and Beaumont Meetings. Handicaps for the -Lawrence and Beaumont meetings are due next Monday, after the handieapper has had a chance of reviewing the form at the Birchwood Hunt meeting on Saturday, and acceptances will close on the following Friday. Belle Cane. Though she was withdrawn from her engagement on the second day of the Manawatu meeting, it is reported that there is nothing wrong with Belle Cane. She ,is being reserved for the Wanganui meeting, of which her owner is a steward. C.J.C. Easter Meeting. Acceptances for the Great Easter and Autumn Handicaps are due to-morrow at 5 p.m., and at the same time first forfeits for the Champagne and Challenge Stakes. Nominations for the minor handicaps for the meeting also close at the same hour. Still a Maiden. Out of seven stars this season the Hunting Song—Martulla gelding, Foxiana, has won three times and been placed second also three times. All his wins have been scored in hurdle races, and Foxiana is still eligible to start in maiden races on the flat. A Big Team. Hector Gray has a team of over 20 horses under his care at Takanini, and this number was recently added to when the Vaals filly, Kraal, joined the stable. Kraal has been a consistent performer this season, as out of 13 starts she has won twice and been placed second five times. May Be Rehandicapped. Winners at the Birchwood Hunt Meeting on Saturday and at the Otautau fixture to be held the following week may be rehandicapped for tho Riverton meeting. According to the conditions printed in the programme these penalties must be declared within 72 hours after any horse winning. • Big Dividend. A treble totalisator was operated at a West Australian trotting meeting recently. Over 200 backers selected the first winner, but of these only 16 purchased tickets on the second winner, and only two picked the third. The dividend was £760. A woman held one, and the other was the property of a syndicate of nine. Ever England. Ever England, who has won the only two races he has started in, is not likely to remain in hack class long. He was sent down to Trentham about a fortnight before making his first appearance, but has now been returned to his original trainer, A. Cook, at Te Awamutu, and it is likely that he will do his Easter racing at the Auckland mcetmg. A Good Gallop. The ‘ Southland News ’ credits Royal Lancer and Mona’s Song with a good gallop over a mile and a-quarter at Invercargill on Tuesday morning. They ran the last mile in Imm 52 4-ssec, and the full distance in 2rain 18seo. Royal Lancer was clear at the finish, but both horses were stopping, adds the ‘ News.’ That is not surprising considering that they must have run the first two furlongs in 25 l-ssec. Oamaru Club’s Bad Luck. The Oamaru Jockey Club was forced to abandon its winter meeting inj|l934 owing to a heavy fall of snow, and four years later the same meeting had to be cancelled on account of heavy rain flooding the surroundings of the course. Monday’s cancellation was the third this club has experienced in less than seven years, a run of bad luck that has not been equalled by any other club in the Dominion. Where Will They Race? Airline, Hearth, Thcrmidor, and Southern Sail have been nominated for the Great Autumn Handicap as well as the Riverton Cup. • In 1936 Queen of Song won the Riverton Cup on the Saturday, and was then sent north and won the Great Autumn on the following Tuesday. Two years later Wild Career, after winning the Riverton Cup, was also sent to Biccarton and ran unplaced in both the Great Easter on Monday and the Great Autumn the following day. Exports of Bloodstock. A large number of horses recently were sent abroad from England. To South Africa went a two-year-old colt by Coronach from Miss Araericus, bought at the recent Newmarket sales for 1,400g5, and Silver Phantom, a grey colt by Easton from Myrobella. Brazil secured the stallions Maranta, by Solario, and Vcrgilius, by Son-in-law, while other young stock has found its way to tho United States, the West Indies, India, the Far East, and Australia. Nearly all tlie fashionable sires are represented. Good Field Promised. The following nominations have been received for the principal race at the Auckland Easter fixture Easter Handicap,
