NEW PROCEDURE ADOPTED GLASSES FOR TERRITORIALS Men between the ages of 20 and 40, who are fit for overseas military service and have not been exempted from such service, will in future not be posted to the Territorial Force or called up for intensive training, according to advice received yesterday by the Army ' Registration Office in Christchurch, reports the ‘ Press.’ (Such advice has not yet been received in Dunedin.) This means that men in this category, who have already been called up in territorial ballots and have not yet done their training, will now await their calling up in an overseas ballot without doing territorial training in the meantime. A number of such reservists were expecting to begin territorial training early nest month. Voluntary enlistment for territorial service has also been reopened and volunteers will be accepted from among married men between the ages of 19 and 45 with not more than three dependent children under the age of 16.

The instructions received yesterday state that men required for territorial service in future will' be men drawn in both territorial and overseas ballots in the following classes: —(l) Single men, who have reached the age of 19, but not 20, who are lift for overseas service, temporarily unfit, or fit for home defence only; (2) single men between 20 and 40, who are temporarily unfit or fit for home defence only; (3) single men who have reached the age of 41 but not 46, who are fit for overseas service, temporarily unfit, or fit for home defence only; (4) single men between 21 and 40 exempted from overseas service and ordered by appeal boards to render alternative service in the Territorial Force, who are fit for overseas service, temporarily unfit, or fit for home defence only. Provision is also made for the posting to the Territorial Force of men who volunteered before July 22, 1940, as follows: —Single men between the ages of 19 and 45, and married men between the same ages with not more than three dependent children under 16, who volunteered for service in either the Territorial Force in the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force before July 22, 1940, and were graded temporarily unfit or fit for home defence only. Volunteers will also be accepted from married men between the same ages and with not more than three dependent children, who are fit for overseas service, temporarily unfit, or fit for home defence only.
