PETROL ALLOWANCES

ADVANCE STATEMENT SOUGHT FURTHER RESTRICTIONS UNNECESSARY [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, March 10. A request that tihe Government, in view of what had happened after the relicensing of motor ears last year, should make known its intentions about the petrol allowances to be available in tho next three to six months, was made by the South Island Motor Union to-day. Tho resolution was carried after a discussion in committee. Opposition to the recent resolution passed by the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association urging further petrol restrictions was strongly expressed in another discussion held in committee. Tho meeting later announced that ?t had passed a resolution stating that “ it could see no reason ” for the course advocated by the Dunedin manufacturers that further restrictions should be pm into effect.
