IN HEAVY SURF

DRAG-NET FISHERMAN DROWNED [Pek United Press Association.] WANGANUI, March 10. Getting out of his depth while fishing with a drag-net on tho Kaitoke Beach, five miles south of Wanganui, this morning, Frederick Pritchard, aged 50, a farmer, of Kaitoke, was drowned. The body was recovered about 400yds further down the beach, but resuscitation was unsuccessful. Pritchard, with his daughter, was using a drag-net in the surf, and when they were noticed to be in difficulties a son, Gordon Pritchard, and a friend, 'Neil Crabbc, went to their assistance. •Grabbe managed to get the girl ashore but Gordon Pritchard was forced to relinquish his hold on his father in the •heavy surf, and the body was not recovered until it had drifted further along the beach.
