During tho session opening to-morrow with tho usual ceremonial, when the new Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, will read the Speech from the Throne, it is not expected that members will be required to consider more than a slender legislative programme. So far, the subjects for consideration take a: minor place compared with the war effort. However, if the opportunity offers, the House may deal with the Local Government Amendment Bill, seckin" to remedy anomalies which should'’ bo corrected prior to the municipal elections, as those include the disfranchisement _ of residents of certain areas which have been taken into tho Napier Borough and H n tt City. There is also an extraordinary position in Auckland City, where resident doctors, nqrscs, and others on the Auckland Hospital staff are not entitled to vote at the municipal elections as the actual site of the hospital from a municipal viewpoint is a no man s l)aylight saving is reported to bo under the the Government with a view to its continuance during the winter as one method of relieving the extra loat| on electric power bU| ilie y most important subjects are those likely to bo discussed at the secret session on Thursday. it is highly unlikely that members on this occasion will be required to deaf with any important financial measures.
