TO CORRESPONDENTS.
“Fence” (Dunedin). —If you do not agree to a beard fence the adjoining owner cannot compel you to pay half its cost. Among the legal fences stipulated in the Fencing Act a post-and-rail fence (four rails) is mentioned; also one of six wires. Another legal fence is one of post and one wire, with battens, 4in apart, between posts. A good and sufficient live fence is another. You should be able to come to some amicable arrangement with your neighbour, but a solid board fence does not come within the scope of the Act, A.J.M.”—Will make inquiries.
