CANADIAN CROPS

INCREASE RECOMMENDED Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright OTTAWA, March 7 A Winnipeg message states that the Grain Research Committee, after a three-day conference, recommended that Western Can adian farmers should increase their corn, flax, and barley crops as a substitute for wheat. An increase of 35,000,000 bushels of barley will be required to feed the increased hog production needed for the increased supplies of bacon to Britain. The increases in corn, flax, and barley will take 1,250,000 acres of land usually sown in wheat.
