HIGH CASTE WINS FUTURITY STAKES BRILLIANT FINISHING EFFORT MELBOURNE, February 23. The weather was line and warm, and there was a large attendance at the rlemington races. , „ . _ . . Trebleworth just held off the fast-finish-ing Tourist in the St. Clair Trial. He deserved his win, as he had four placings in five previous starts. All Love led always in the Alma Stakes, and was not extended. The time is a record for a two-year-old. Kelos surprised by a forward showing. High Road finished well, and Bcauport was a close fourth. The winner’s next start is in the Sires’ Produce Stakes. . f .. . M Carpentier, runner-up in each of his three previous starts, well deserved his win in the Woodcliff Handicap. Exactly and Positrou made promising efforts, but Dashing Cavalier disappointed his Australian Cup admirers. „ . . High Caste made a brilliant effort m the Futurity Stakes. He was third last early in the race, in the middle of the field at the turn, and finished brilliantly under the whip. Zonda made a game effort, and also finished well.
