The Hollywood film director who had lunched very unwisely returned to the studio for an interview with a distinguished author. His visitor was waiting. The director sat down and took up what he. thought was a manuscript, but what, in reality, was the local telephone directory. This ho studied gravely for some moments before saying:— ‘‘Say, this isn’t a bad li’l tale, but you’ll have to cut down the number of characters.”.
