MOTHERS' UNION ANNUAL FESTIVAL
On Wednesday last, St. Paul's Cathedral was the scene of the gathering of some three hundred members of the Mother’s Union, for its annual festival service. Holy Eucharist was celebrated by His Lordship the Bishop. The Von. Archdeacon Button gave a brief address to the mothers, in which he stressed the strength and comfort of faith in these difficult days, especially in the case of women whose menfolk were overseas. The matter of responsibility in regard to the future was one that rested chiefly on the mothers of to-day. If children were set the example of regular worship and Christian living and were soundly instructed in the Christian faith, we in ibis part of the world would ho making a real contribution to a state of affairs in which such a situation as we see to-day would lie impossible. The Mother’s Union and the League of .Mothers had it largely in their power to bring this about, and members were urged to he faithful in discharging the obligation set nut in tlie objects of the Mother's Union. “• To awaken in all mothers a sense of j great responsibility in the training of I their hoys and girls—l lie fathers and mothers of the. future.”
