FAREWELL TO AIRMEN

A pleasant function arranged by the Green Island Soldiers’ Farewell Committee was hold in the Foresters’ Hall, Green Island, on Wednesday evening, when Pilototlieer Tieeoe, Sergeant-pilot M’Phail, and Lending Aircraftman Umbers, of the Itoyal New Zealand Air' Force, were entertained and fareweiled. During an interval in the programme, Mr A. J. Gordon (chairman of

t lie Green Island Soldiers’ Committee) welcomed Uie guests of tile evening, and a presentation of a pocket wallet and cheque to each of the airmen was made by the mayor (Mr G. A. Orange). Other speakers wore Mr J. Coburn (Returned Soldiers’ Association) and the Rev. T. M. M’Donald. Items were contributed by Mrs Coventry, Misses Rouse, Robertson, Duncan, Beisell, Wix, and Mr D. Maxwell; pianists, Mrs Edmonds and Miss Bennett.
