ANDERSON'S BAY WINS
CHRISTMAS BOWLING TOURNEY ROSLYN RUNNER-UP The Christmas pairs bowling tournament was concluded yesterday afternoon on the Caledonian green, the final being won by P. 801 l and J. Marshall, of Anderson’s Bay, who beat the Roslyn pair, W. Adamson and J. W. Thomas, by 22 points to 14. The weather and green conditions continued perfect throughout the day. In the semi-finals Thomas defeated A. W. Macdonald (Balmacewen) 11-10, the winner playing some phenomenally ■ good shots. Marshall’s victory over IW. Cuff (Milton) was a fairly easy one, 16-10. The final game, which was notable for some fine drawing by all four players, was fairly even for the first 11 heads, and when they went np to play the twelfth the scores read 9-7 in Marshall’s favour. Tho Anderson’s Bay pair put on another 8 in the next four heads, making their score 17 to Roslyn’s 8, but Thomas replied with a. 6 on the seventeenth, so that with three heads to go ho was only 3 down. Marshall, however, scored 5 on the final three ends, and ran out a fairly ca?y winner. Details:— SEMI-FINAL. Thomas 11, Macdonald 10. Marshall 16, Cuff 10. FINAL. P. Bell and J.
