INDO-GHINA AND THAILAND INVADERS REPULSED BY FRENCH FORCES VICHY, November 27. (Received November 28, at noon.) It is officially announced that hostilities between Thailand and French IndoChina began on November 23 along the Cambodian frontier when French forces thrice repulsed Siamese attempting to throw a pontoon bridge across the Caustung River. INTERNED ALIENS SPECIAL PIONEER CORPS (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, November 26. The Government’s policy with regard to interned aliens of enemy nationality was announced in the House of Commons by the Secretary for Home Security, Mr Herbert Morrison. It is mainly directed towards those men who are of military age, and for this purpose an auxiliary military pioneer corps is considered the best method of dealing with such men as wish to show their loyalty to the Allied cause. Internees who are eligible for the Pioneer Corps have volunteered. Mr Morrison hopes to set up within the next few weeks a tribunal to consider the release of men who, by reason of age or physical unfitness, are ineligible for the Pioneer Corps, provided they can satisfy the tribunal that they are opposed to the Nazi or the Fascist system, and are loyal to the Allied cause. The number of such cases is estimated at roughly 2,000. AMERICAN DESTROYERS

PATROLLING OFF MARTINIQUE FORT DE FRANCE, November 26. The United States patrol off Martinique has been increased to four destroyers. It is unofficially reported that this action was due to the rumoured proximity of « German cruiser off Puerto Rico. ANGLICAN PRELATES APPEAL TO AUSTRALIAN NATION MELBOURNE, November 27. The Anglican archbishops and bishops of Australia have issued an appeal to Australia’s leaders and people to eliminate injustices from the social system. The appeal says: “ No nation or people can adequately serve God' or man on the basis of doles, relief work, and chronic unemployment.” ON WAY TO VICTORY SIR CYRIL KEWALL'S CONFIDENCE LONDON, November 27. Air Marshal Sir Cyril Newall, delivering a speech, said it was not without a pang that he was leaving his native land in the hour of danger. “ I am absolutely confident,” he said, “ that we have turned a very ugly corner, and that with our forces and the output of the factories progressively increasing, and with further contributions from the dominions, the Empire is on the way to victory.” EIRE'S FINANCES A SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATE DUBLIN, November 27. DEATH OH TRAIN EGYPTIAN CABINET MINISTER CAIRO, November 27, (Received November 28, at noon.) The Minister of Defence, Younis Pasha Saleh, died suddenly from heart failure while travelling in a train to meet King Farouk in connection with the opening of a new public works project. Saleh was about 60 years of age, and was appointed Minister of Defence on November 6.

SWEDISH SAILING SHIP SUNK BY GERMAN CRUISER STOCKHOLM, November 27. (Received November 28, at noon.) It is now revealed that the Killoran, the largest sailing ship in the world, which disappeared some months ago after calling at the Canary Islands, was sunk by a German auxiliary cruiser. The crew is safe., BRITISH BY-ELECTION RUGBY, November 27.
