■ ■ ■ "O 1 TUESDAY. NOVEMBER 20. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) INTOXICATED DRIVER. William Robert Anderson, represented by Mr B. S. Irwin, pleaded guilty to being intoxicated while in charge of a car.—Senior-sergeant Vaughan stated that Anderson was seen by Chief-inspec-tor Avery and Inspector Claasen driving in an erratic manner in Maclaggan street. He was followed and stopped in Carroll street, and upon being taken to the police station was certified by a doctor ns unfit to drive a car. Mr Irwin told the court that Anderson was one of the first taxi drivers in Dunedin, having commmenced about 32 yGD.rs Ho wont to Clinstclmrch some time ago, but later returned to Dunedin, and was now working as a mechanic. He was a man of excellent record, and had never been in tronbe before Anderson was fined £lO and his driver’s license suspended. He was also

prohibited from obtaining another for 12 months. THEFF OF MONEY. Ernest Clark, aged 20, farm labourer, of Woodside, appeared for sentence on a charge of theft of £5 from his employer there on November 18. Mr Bartholomew told Clark his theit had been A deliberate and cunning one. but in view of the probation officer s report he would be given another chance He placed Clark cn probation for 12 months. DISORDERLY BEHAVIOUR. " This man was molesting people in the street and annoying and stopping women,” stated Senior-sergeant Vaughan, when Arthur William Williamson pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in a disorderly manner while drunk. Joseph Crookshnnks, aged ,34, a labourer, appeared for sentence on a

charge relating to the theft of a bicycler on September 24 last, the property of Wijliam Jackson Stuart. Crookshank* was convicted and placed on probation for 18 months, conditions being that he take out a prohibition order and that be make restitution upon condition* fixed by the probation officer.
