UNITY IN EFFORT.
TO THIS EDITOU. Sir,—ln his epistle last night, wherein Mr E. C. Fraser chided a number of organisations for allegedly trying to hinder the war effort of the Government, ho quite forgot to mention the numerous strikes by men employed in freezing works, coal mines, and on the waterfront. Ho also failed to mention the scores of resolutions of protest, passed from ono end of the country to the other, in. regard to the 5 per cent, increase in wages. The position was so bad among wharf labourers that the Government was forced to put on a large number of its friends to see that honest work was done, at a eost to the country of over £15,000. Evidently your correspondent forgot to mention these instances of how the war work of the country lias been deliberately held up by socalled supporters of the Government! Was it loss of memory on his part or a onesided view of things P—l am, etc., Qumiv. November 8.
