PRAISE FROM LLOYD GEORGE

Critics the world over are unanimous in their praise for ‘ The Proud Valley,’ stirring human drama of Welsh mining districts, in which Paul Robeson, famous actor-singer, makes a welcome return to the screen. But none are more enthusiastic than that famous Welshman, the Right Hon. D. Lloyd George, 0.M., M.P., who writes:—“ ‘ The Proud Valley ’ is a remarkable film, one of the most moving and dramatic 1 have ever seen. It throbs with genuine human emotion, and the acting is superb. I must congratulate all responsible for producing such a work which, apart from its artistic merits, lias a real educational value.”

To which the ‘ Sydney Morning Herald’ adds; ‘‘Paul Robeson, as a Welsh miner in ‘ Proud Valley,’ surpasses any of his previous screen appearances. This film is a gripping document of life in tho coal country ... it is much more than a vehicle for Robeson’s incomparable bass voice penetrating understanding of the real thing was necessary to make this film, and Jack Jones, actor-producer, has it in full measure.”

Such well-merited praise from this famous son of Wales and Australia’s oldest newspaper, speaks volumes in terms of recommendation of the outstanding entertainment value in ‘ The Proud Valley.’ In addition to several solo 'numbers, Robeson is supported in the Eisteddfod sequences by famous Welsh choirs, adding rich harmony to the rare quality of the music. The big supporting cast of ‘ The Proud galley ’ also includes Janet Johnson, a lovely Australian lass, Simon Lack, and Edward Chapman.
