QUIET PERIOD IN DATS POTATO MARKET STAGNANT Bray Bros, report that little interest is now being shown in the milling wheat market. The wholesale value of fowl wheat is about 5s 9d a bushel. Small lots ex the stores are saleable at 6s 3d a bushel. Wholesale prices for flour are; — Flour.—2oo’s, £l3 15s 6d; 100's, £l4 12s 6d; 50’s, £l4 17s 6d; 25’s, £ls 7s fid. Pollard, £6 15s a ton of 2,0001 b. Bran, £5 5s a ton of 2,0001 b. Oatmeal.—2oolb sacks, £27 14s a toil; 251 b loose, £29 4s; 251 b packed in sacks of eight. £29 14s. Odd lines of seed oats are still being sent to the country. The nominal shipping quotation to-day is 4s lOd, f.0.b., s.i., for A Gartons and 4s 7d for Bs. These prices are equivalent tc 3s lOd and 3s 7d a bushel respectively on trucks, country sidings (sacks extra). Few lines, however, are left in the country. A small consignment of Valencia oranges has arrived, and another small shipment is expected soc-n. Navel oranges are .finished for the season. Supplies of apples are still available ox cool stores. The fruit is being sold by auction instead of at the fixed prices named by the Internal Marketing Department. A. shipment of Samoan bananas has arrived, also a small parcel of Island kumcras. The market lor hothouse tomatoes is exceptionally good. A small consignment of pineapples was submitted to auction this morning. The fruit was in an overripe condition. The firm also auctioned a small consignment of Central Otago-grown strawberries, which came to hand to-day. The quality was exceptionally good. Supplies of peas are increasing, and the market lias an casing tendency. Early cherries also reached the market this week. Rhubarb is still meeting with a good demand Christchurch cucumbers of excellent quality realised iuducire prices for growers. Cauliflowers have been realising extreme prices during the week, and cabbages have also advanced in price. New' potatoes arc only available in small quantities. Some choice-quality new potatoes are arriving from the Nelson district, and these meet a ready sale. North Island-grown are 1 ard to place. Wholesale prices are: — Cauliflowers, 12s to los a bag. Lettuce. 3s to 3s 6d a dozen; small, Is 6d to 2s. Carrots, Is to Is 3d a dozen. Cabbages, 3s to 4s a case. Onions. 22s fid a bag. Spinach, Is to Is 6d a dozen. Swedes, 2s a bag. Asparagus, 12s to 15s 6d a dozen. Peas, to sd. .Local potatoes, 6d to 7d. Potatoes, £3 to £4 a ton. Gooseberries, 4Jd to 5W per lb. Rhubarb, 2£d to 2Jd per lb Eggs, market price.
