SPITFIRE FIGHTER PLANES
APPEAL FOR FUNDS RELIEF OF DISTRESS IN LONDON When appeals for the Spitfire Fighter Iftlano Fund and tho London Distress Relief Fund were launched in other parts of the Dominion, Dunedin and Otago were unable to join in, for the reason that the queen carnival arrangements for tho Soldiers’ Rehabilitation Fund wore too far advanced to be then interrupted. Now that tho queen cannival effort is ever, the executive of tho Provincial Patriotic Council has agreed to an opportunity being given the people of Otago to subscribe to these appeals. The mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) asks that those willing to subscribe should send their subscriptions to ±he treasurer of the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council, Municipal Chambers, Dunedin, or they may he forwarded to the ‘Star.’ through the columns of which they will be acknowledged. Contributions wilt be forwarded by the Now Zealand Government to the British Government, and tho appeal will provide an opportunity for Otago to show to the courageous people in the Mother Country its desire to assist them in this gravest hour of their history.
