HIGH SCHOOL BOXING

P, G. LESTER WINS CHAMPIONSHIP The Otago Boys’ High School boxing tournament was completed in the school gymnasium yesterday afternoon, the finals of the school championship and the lightweight class being contested. The school champion is P. G. Lester, a moipber of the school Rugby fifteen, who proved himself an. aggressive boxer and took the decision from J. J. Hamilton in a well-contested bout. A. H. Sime, half-back in the Rugby fifteen, won tho light-weight division by outpointing J. B. Leckio in a lively mill. Results:— —Light-weight.— A. H. Sime and J. B. Leckie had a willing set-to, tho former forcing the fighting all the way, though Leckie did some clever countering and packed the heavier wallop, his two-handed straight hitting slowing Sime up in the last round. Sime was the winner. —School Championship.— P. G. Lester outpointed J. J. Hamilton after a spirited null. Lester carried the fight to his opponent, trying hard to connect with a heavy right, but Hamilton met his rushes with solid straight lefts. Lester continued to force the fighting, however, and scored with a straight left and right swing. The decision went to Lester.
