HUTT VALLEY BOROUGHS

TOWN PUNNING SCHEME [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, November G. A comprehensive report has been issued by the Government town-planning officer/ Mr J. W. Mawson, on the future development of the Butt Valley boroughs. It was prepared in close collaboration with the local authorities, and describes the development in the industrial areas in the valley as compatible with a good general plan. It envisages several modifications of the reading system, including several new bridges, also the development of port facilities, and emphasises that the Hntt Valley is not a rival of Wellington, which should always retain its commercial pre-eminence. The valley alone, however, provides space for industrial development. The proposals include systematic zoning of the area for light and heavy industry, as well as for residential use. and also for the establishment of a number of new shopping areas.
