Claiming that the real aim of the Labour Party was the destruction of the capitalist system, Mr W. A. Bodkin, M.P. (Central Otago), in an address to more than 100 members of the National Party at Temuka on Saturday evening, said that most of the Government’s legislation was directed to that end. He said that much of the legislation was based on tho totalitarian model and was similar to that adopted in Germany. The claim that tho Government’s policy was dominated by the partv machine was made by former members of the Labour Party who were now members of tho Democratic Party, Mr Bodkin said. In actual fact a machine had been set up which was dominated by tho trade union “ bosses.” No one should relax his war effort, but in view of those facts it was necessary to examine the political situation and to remember that wc lived in a work! of political realities.
