ORKNEY AND SHETLAND SOCIETY

The Hallowe’en celebrations of the Ork-ney--and Shetland Society were held in tha Victoria Hall on Saturday evening, there being an attendance of some 250 people. On the platformu were Mr G. K.. Berwick and Mr P. Findlay (president of the Council of Scottish Societies). Mr G. K. Bora wick opened the proceedings with a hearty, welcome to the large audience. He introduced Mr Findlay to those present, and hoped that everyone would have an enjoyable evening. Dancing was then commenced, and continued until 10 o’clock, interspersed witH the following items: —Songs, Mrs A. Caldwell, Mr Arthur Macdonald, Miss Eoselin* Plank (piano-accordion solos). The haggia was then piped in by Piper A. MacMillan. Mr James Young then addressed the haggia and gave the Falkirk grace, after which it was cut up and handed round to all present, followed by plum pudding and creamMr Findlay gave a short address, after which dancing was resumed and continued until midnight. The winners of the ‘ Movisl Waltz ’ were Mrs Myers and Mr ButtiraMrs Neil Johnston land Mrs Arthur Maodonald played the accompaniments. Musis was supplied by Messrs Croy and Fraser. Messrs G. K. Borwick and W. Sabisfco* acted as M.C.s. . >
