MANCHESTER UNITY

P.G. Bro. J. Swan occupied the N.G.’s chair at the ordinary meeting of the Loyal Valley Lodge on Monday evening last. It was decided to request the permission of the District Executive to hold the installation of officers on December 9 instead of November 23, due to the observance of the King’s Birthday on November 25. Some alterations in the current syllabus of meetings were found necessary, of which sister lodges will be notified. The invitation from Loyal Princess Mary Lodge to participate in the official visit was accepted. Loyal Hand and .Heart Lodge met on Tuesday The lodge entertained the wives and lady friends of members at trnmp whist. During the course of his remarks recently the Prov. 6.M., Bro. H. Masters, quoted some illuminating figures to illustrate the value of the accumulated funds of the Otago District, M.U. For the 12 months ended December 31, 1939, total contributions paid by members amounted to £9,820, the amount paid out in sick pay for this period was £14,580, and over and above this £2,440 was distributed in funeral claims, a total of £17,020 being paid out in benefits for one year.

The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Dunedin Lodge was well attended N.G Rro. U.
