BAPTIST YOUNG MEN

BIBLE CLASS MOVEMENT The biennial conference of the New Zealand Baptist Young Men’s Bible Class movement was hold in Wellington recently, when 'representatives of the Dominion Council in Dunedin, the Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago-Southland District Unions and the Baptist Union, were present. The Dominion president (Mr H. J. Hayward) presided. Inspirational and business sessions were held, while an induction service for the new Dominion officers was conducted by Mr H. A. Harris (Wellington president), the Rev. J. Russell Grave delivering the induction address, and the retiring president (Mr H. J. Hayward) presenting the badges of office. The incoming president, Mr I. Lilly (Auckland) spoke briefly of the future work of the Bible Class movement. The Dominion Council will be located in Auckland, the other officers being:—Vice-president, Mr E. M. Blaiklock, M.A.; secretary, Mr H. L. Trotman; treasurer, Mr H. G. Massam. Reports presented indicated a slight increase in membership, while over £SOO had been raised during the past year for missionary and denominational funds. The conference decided to seek a closer contact with individual members of classes by means of a news leaflet, and also to pursue further the matter of keeping in touch with Baptist men in the forces, both at home and abroad.

The incoming council has been directed to investigate the possibility of organising holiday conventions hi the summer months.
