M'Donald, who has been head shepherd at the South Otago Freezing Works for the past 16 years, and who has been appointed Clinton agent for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, was the recipient of a well-filled envelope from his fellow-workers on Thursday. Mr W. Luke (manager), Mr E. Barnett (secretary), and Mr T. Kirby (wool room) paid tributes to Mr M'Donald and wished him all success in his new position. » CRICKET. South Otago shield competitions were resumed on Saturday, when Milton played Clutha at Balclutha. The visitors batted first and were dismissed for the very low score of 28 run?, no batsman making a stand. B. )j,ill (three wickets for 4 runs), L. M'Lcan (two for 0), L. Milne (two for 3), and A. M'Gregor (three for 9) divided bowling honours for Clutha. The home side made 12+ runs. L. Milne topped tho score with 30 not out, two 6’s and a 4 being included. A.
