RAMSGATE’S TUNNELS SAVED HUNDREDS.—The three and a half miles of tunnels, seventy feet deep, cut through Ramsgate s chalk foundation just before war began, at a cost of £60,000, have certainly proved their worth. The tunnels can hold 60,000 and during recent raids when German aircraft poured tons of nig' l cxf plosive and incendiary bombs on the town, and when hundreds of houses were destroyed or made uninhabitable, no doubt hundreds of lives were saved in these tunnels.
