(Received October 28, at 8 a.m.) The Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) announced the new Cabinet to-day. All the present Ministers, except Mr Cameron, former leader of the Country Party, remain, but many portfolios have been reallotted. The new Ministers are Sir Earle Page and Messrs Harrison and Holt. Sir Earle Page, who preceded Mr Cameron as Country Party leader, has Lad long Ministerial experience. Mr Holt, one of the youngest members of Parliament, has been recalled from the A.1.F., where he was serving as a gunner. He was previously Assistant Minister of Supply. He takes the newlycreated portfolio of Labour and National Service. , It is expected that Mr Cameron, who was excluded because he did not compose his differences with the Country Party, will transfer' shortly to the United Australia Party. The new Cabinet will have an increase of one on the old Cabinet. Five Ministers are from the Country Party and the remainder from the United Australia Party. . Mr Menzies attaches great importance to the new portfolio of Labour and National Service, which replaces that of Labour and Industry and provides for planning the post-war reconstruction of industry. Mr Harrison, now Minister of Customs, was a former Postmaster-General. The new Ministers, who will be sworn in at Canberra to-morrow, are;— Mr Menzies, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Co-ordination and Information. Mr Fadden, Treasurer. Mr Hughes, Attorney-General and Navy Minister. / Hr Spender, Army Minister. Senator M'Leay, Postmaster-General and Minister of Repatriation. Mr M'Ewen, Air Minister. Senator Foil, Minister of the Interior. Sir Earle Page, Minister of Commerce, Sir Frederick Stewart, Minister of External Affairs, Social Services, and Health. Senator M'Bride, Minister of Supply and Munitions. Mr Harrison, Minister of Customs. Mr Holt, Minister of Labour and National Service. Assistant Ministers—Senators Collett and Leckie and Messrs Collins and Anthony. Two more Assistant Ministers are to be appointed. The War Council is to be announced shortly. KALGOCRLIE BY-ELECTION FOUR CANDIDATES KALGOORLIE, October 27. Four candidates will contest the Kalgoorlie by-election on November 16, occasioned by the death of Mr A. Green immediately after the Federal election. So much depends on the winning of this seat that Mr Menzies intends to fly to Kalgoorlie from Melbourne to help the candidature of the Nationalist candidate, Mr Frederick R. Lee, a journalist, who ran Mr Curtin so close in Fremantle. The official Labour candidate is Mr H. V. Johnson, a union secretary. The other two nominees are Independents, Mr Carlyle Ferguson, a journalist, and Mr Benjamin Finlay, a miner. UNREST IN NORWAY DEMONSTRATIONS AGAINST NAZIS STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED STOCKHOLM, October 27, (Received October 28, at 10.56 a.m.) A state of emergency has been declared in Bergen on the ground of continuous street demonstrations and acts of sabotage. The inhabitants are kept indoors after sunset.

OSLO PAPER SUSPENDED

SARCASTIC COMMENT ON OCCUPANCY OF THEATRE BOX STOCKHOLM, October 27. (Received October 28, at 1.30 ip. in.) The ‘ Tidenstegn,’ the largest morning newspaper in Olso, was suspended because it sarcastically commented on occupancy of the Royal box in the Municipal Theatre. The audience a few nights ago saw a man and a woman in the Royal bos and shouted protests, whereupon the couple withdrew. The ‘ Tidenstegn,’ referring to the incident, said the box now apparently belonged to foreigners. “It is now available to anyone who' can afford to pay the adequate subscription,” it said.
