PRESBYTERIAN SOCIAL SERVICE
In the absence of Mr T. Somerville, Mr It. L. Fairmaid presided at the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Social Service Association. The Chairman paid atribute to the work of Mr Somerville, who, through many difficult periods, had piloted the committee with outstanding ability, and eulogised the work of the staff Mr Fairmaid mentioned that through the generosity of the late Mr and Mrs A. Kilgour, the, association was proceeding with the erection of a new wing at Boss Home, and expressed a hope that the committee would soon be in a position to proceed with the erection of a chapel at the home. Mr A. M. Cameron mentioned that the figures of expenditure for the year were very much the same as for the previous year. On the income side, however, an increase was noted, partly through donations but more would have to bo collected for the position to he deemed satisfactory. A special Sunday school stamp appeal providing Christmas cheer for the homes had resulted in over Iflf) Sunday schools contributing fiFlfi 13s 7d. Mr W. H. Adams moved, and it was .•creed. that a vote of thanks he carried the committee and the staff, together with the honorary medical and legal sail, and also those who had assisted the association throughout the year iu so many different ways.
