ITALIANS IN SYRIA. LONDON, October 25.—The Cairo correspondent of ‘ The times ’ says tilt' Italian Armistice Commission in Syria lias changed its tactics and lias ceased to persist with its political demands. It is devoting i its energy to trying to win the sympathies of the population and is endeavouring to convince the Syrians and the Lebanese of their benefit from an exchange of French for Italian patronage. The Italian schools have been reopened and the pupils are being collected in motors from the outlying areas, although the French schools arc unable to do likewise because of the shortage of petrol. A Cairo comm unique states that a British patrol outside Kassala again drove off a party of the enemy, who sustained casualties. CORE RACES.
