ROAD PERIL
A local defence volunteer on sentry duty in a remote spot in England called “Halt!” to a man approaching in a car. The motorist promptly stopped, and the sentry again cried, “ Halt ! ” “ I have halted,” said the motorist. “ What do you want me to do next? ” “ I don’t know,” replied the sentry. “ My orders are to call ‘ Halt! ’ three times, and then shoot.”
