NEGOTIATIONS WITH JAPAN SUSPENDED IN MEANTIME LONDON, October 25. According to a Dutch newspaper published in London negotiations between Japan and the Dutch East Indies have been suspended. A Japanese Spokesman said that more details were being worked out. He admitted the delay, but added that negotiations of the kind usually took some time. FAITH IN BRITAIN PRESIDENT OF COLOMBIA PANAMA CITY, October 24. The President of Colombia (Dr Eduardo Santos), in an interview, said: ‘ 1 Britain will not be conquered,. and will save the world from the abominable prospect of a totalitarian future. My faith in Britain is unbreakable. 1 believe that the Americas must enter the war sooner or later to save their own existence.” AMERICANS IN THE EAST EVACUATION ARRANGEMENTS SHANGHAI, October 24. The Navy announced that it is evacuating to the United States all dependents of the regular navy marine personnel by November 15. Two hundred and twenty are embarking on the Monterey on NovembeT 1 and the remainder later on the Pierce, Coolidge, and Taft. AMERICAN RED GROSS GIFT OF UTILITY WAGONS (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 24. The Queen, as president of the women’s voluntary services to-day walked down a line of 24 utility wagons drawn up in the inner quadrangle at Buckingham Palace. She accepted them as a gift to the W.V.S. from the American Red Cross. They will be used for conveying food and clothing to areas where distress is caused by raids.
