UNION STREET SCHOOL
EX-PUPILS’ ANNUAL MEETING The Union Street School Ks-pupils’ Association held its .uouuil mootin'' last evening, .Mr \V. Kntherlovd presiding over a large attendance. The adoption of the annual report was moved by the president, who said that the association had suffered the loss of several of its members during the year. The death had occurred of .Miss Grace Thomson, Mrs P. Gray, Mrs Kentledge, Messrs \V. Smith, G. I'inlayson, G Campbell, J. D. Thomson, and J. I'lemmg. The association extended its congratulations to Mr and Mis MT’heisou, who had celebrated then golden wedding during the year. The president referred to the valuable services rendered to the association by the present head master of the -school (Mi Miller) and his staff, who were to be thanked for the work they were carrying on in the old school The association’s host wishes wont with all members who had gone overseas with the lighting forces. The following olliee-hearers were clouted : —President, Mr W. Bntlicrford; vice-presidents—Miss Cable, Messrs J. R. Dincss, J. H. Millis, and W. J. Strong; secretary, Mr F. Hay; treasurer, Mr J. H. Oliver’ auditor, Mr W, J. Tronnson; committee —Mrs Duthie, Miss Allan, Miss Wright, Mesdames MTherson, Squire, and Lawson, Messrs A. Allan, M'lndoe, J. M'K. Miller, and P. Ireland. At the conclusion of the business meeting an enjoyable musical programme, arranged by Madame Stella, was presented. The items were :—Miss Julia Holmes, violin solo, ‘Polonaise’; Miss Ivy Cranston, song, 1 Merry Month of May’; Miss June Holmes, song, ‘ Dream o’ Day Jill ’; Mr Donald (Ross, song, ‘ Let Mo Like a. Soldier Fall ’; Misses I. Cranston and D. Green, duet, ‘I ‘ Love Yon Truly’; Miss Anna Briasco, violin solo; ‘ Waltz Bohomienne ’; Mrs Harold Varney, song, ‘ Waiata Pol’; Miss Juno Holifles, whistling novelty, ‘ Butterflies-in the Rain ’; Miss Dorothy Green, song, ‘Ye Banks and Braes.’ The pianoforte accompaniments were played by Madame Stella and Miss June Holmes.
