“FIRST CALL”
EX-SERVICEMEN FOR STAFF DUTIES INTIMATION TO R.S.A. HEADQUARTERS “ In all questions relating to staffing and appointments of instructors, exservicemen would have first call, all things being equal,” was the assurance of the Minister of Defence (Hon. F- Jones) and the General Chief of Staff to the Dominion Headquarters,of the R.S.A., tabled at the local branch mooting last night in circular form. The offer of co-operation in obtaining experienced n.c.o.s and officers was much appreciated, it was intimated by the Minister. This was accepted 1 by the Dunedin Executive Committee as a suitable reply to the question of using fit men on staff duties, raised at a previous meeting. The president (Mr W. K. Cameron) was in tho chair, the other members present being Messrs W. F. Forrester, L. G. Hill, A. Duncan, G. H. Fercns, C. R. M‘Lean, and J. M. 'White. Five new nominations for membership, and one honorary, were reported. There had been one transfer inward, and one outward. Alteration of the rules to admit members of tho /Second N.Z.E.F.. if honourably discharged, was under consideration, reported the president. A re-union was fixed for September 21, at Roxburgh.
