SOUTH ISLAND TITLES Brilliant play was seen at the United Chib’s pavilian, Christchurch, last evening, when the South Island table tennis championships were begun. A iarga entry, including nearly all the Dominion’s best players, ensured keen competition and a high standard of play. The semi-finalists in the men’s singles are A; D Brown (Canterbury champion). M. Friend (Otago), W. Fogarty (Otago), and F. Baton (Auckland). In the women’s singles the finalists are Misses T, Burton and B. Lee, both of Timaru. The women’s doubles was completed last evening, and was won by Misses Burton and, Lee* ,
