Mr J. L. Passmore left this morning for Wellington. Mr A. M’Kerrow, on transfer from the Hillside 11 ail way Workshops to Addington, left this morning for the north.
Mr A. S. Cookson left this morning for Wellington. - 1 Advice has been received by his relatives that Lieutenant Niall O’Neill, medical officer attached to the Inniskilling Dragoons, who was posted missing on July 12, is a prisoner of war in Germany.
A large number of Wiugatui residents assembled at the home of Mr and Mrs R. Welsh on Monday last to farewell their local boys. Sappers E. T. Hudson, A. Wilson, and Private W. Alcock, who were on final leave. On making presentations to the soldiers, Mr J. Friend wished them all the best of luck on behalf of the Wingatui residents. Private Alcock and Sapper Wilson were presented each with a fountain pen and a sum of money, whilst Sapper Hudson was presented: with a leather writing case along with a sura of money.
At a meeting .last week the members of the Port Chalmers Waterside Workers’ Union presented tokens of esteem to their workmates who had enlisted with the 3rd Echelon. Mr J. Amos made the presentations to Sergeant C. Neilson, Lanch-corporal D.- Poli, Privates H. Clark. E. Hill, M. Pratley, X. Pratley. and Trooper J. F. Harrison. At another function held some tim* ago gifts were made to Privates A. Paterson, J. Dougherty and A. W. Porteous, who had enlisted with the 2nd Echelon, and arrangements are being made to forward useful gifts to those members serving with the Ist Echelon.

Burrows (Westport), Mr D. Hammondi (Christchurch), Mr W. Hedges (Ashburton), Mr J. D. Kerr (Tfmaru), Mr E. D. Parker (Oamaru), Miss M. Hannin g (Invercargill). Registrations at the Carlton Hotel are Mr A. A. Ansell, Mr F. M. Rothschild (Wellington), Mr A. E. White (Taieri), Mr R. Littlejohn (Invercargill). Mr and Mrs A.W, Roberts (Lumsden). Mr P. H. Gwvnne, Mr Q. D. Baggs, Mr L. L. Hills,*Mr M. J. Scott (Wellington), Mr W. Palmer (Nelson), and Mr C. R. Shand (Centre Bush) are at the Grand Hotel.
