When the writers included a jiu-jitsu scene in ‘ Turnabout,’ Director Hal Roach was a little dubious. To decide the matter the studio called in Miki Morita, Japanese expert. While Roach and Morita were discussing the pictorial value of various • holds, blonde star Carole Landis, looking very feminine and dainty in a flowing negligee, stepped up to Roach, grasped his wrist, and said : “ I know a pretty good trick.”
Roach, who is no .light-weight, smiled and l winked at the crew. A moment later 1951 b of producer-director were flying through the air to come to reston the creaking springs of a prop bed.
While Roach was blinking with amazement Carole, again the deceptively demure feminine creature, said: “ ‘What Every Girl Should Know,’ in 10 easy lessons.” Morita, helping Roach to his feet, nodded and beamed: “ Miss Landis my very good pupil.” The jiu-jitsu scene stayed in the picture.
