MOBILISATION IN GREECE
GERMANY NOW EXERTING PRESSURE CO-OPERATION WITH AXIS DEMANDED LONDON, August 16. (Received August 17, at 4.19 p.m.) It is officially announced in Athens that partial mobilisation of Greek reservists has been ordered for August 20. The commanders of the bombed destroyers reported that the attackers v*ere absolutely identified as Italians. It is reported from Switzerland that the interview of the German Ambassador in Athens with the Foreign Minister caused a sensation in Berlin. The Ambassador is reported to have declared that the German attitude is identical with the Italian, and ihat Germany demanded a settlement of the Albanian, also the Corfu and Epirus, problems. Germany is also reported to be demanding that Greece enter the Axis sphere of influence. Meanwhile, Greek newspapers reflect the nation’s indignation at the attack on the Helle, and unanimously assert that the attack will draw the people closer to the King and General Metaxas.
