HARRIERS

ST. KILDA, Tho club held its run from the Northeast Valley School. Led by Deputycaptain M. Spain, the pack ran up tho hill at the back of the school, and entered tho bush. From here a zigzag route was followed, until eventually the pack reached tho Centennial Memorial, some excellent harrier country being covered. Returning via Signal Hill road, a stiff pace was set down to the Gardens Corner, and from here a run homo was hold. J. Hodge was first, followed by M. Spain, T. Beatson. and A. Wilson. Tho colts’ pack ran from Mr C. Pope’s residence at Anderson’s Bay. CAVERSHAM. The members ran from the Anderson’s Bay School, only a small muster taking part owing to many members running at Timaru. The pack, under Acting Captain L. F. Gerrie, ran round tho inlet, down on to tho Portobello road, and had an easy run to near Macandrew Bay and return. CELTIC UNITED. There was a good muster of members for tho run from the Nga Maara Hall. The fast padk ran to Brown House, down to Sawyers Bay, and back along the Low road. The run home resulted in Carrol being first, closely followed by D. Ryan and F. Kenelly. The medium pack (under Captain Paterson) went to Brown House and back. In a fast run homo P. Venning was first, followed by Byrne and D. Blackburn. Tho colts held their run to the Centennial Memorial and back, J. Pettit, D. K. Moreland, and T. Hannagan being prominent throughout. MORNINGTON. Twenty-one members faced the starter for the Rawnsley Cup race (1,000yds) at the Forbury Racecourse. W. N. Burrows took the lead, closely followed by Roxburgh, Wallace, and Gardiner. Gradually Burrows lengthened his lead to win by a good 15yds, but competition for the next two places was keen. Results:—N. Burrows 1, R. Roxburgh 2, T. Wallace 3. After the race a short run was held. P. Graveson, J. Walker, and W. Taylor showing up well. LEITH. The club held its run from Jamieson Hall, Maori Hill, under ideal conditions. Under Deputy-captain Arthur, tho pack proceeded down Balraacewen road past tho golf links to Wakari. Some good cross-country running led to the rear of the power station. After coming down Wakari road tho pack proceeded until Balmacewen road was reached again, where tho run home was held, resulting as follows: —W, Hutton 1, R. Rigby 2, G. Doig 3, ANGLICAN. The club held its run from the Caversham School, a fair muster turning out under Captain Mann. The trail led up College street, up Skibo street, and from tlxere across Corstorphine, where some good paddocks were crossed, Norman Payno and Trezise showing up to advantage. The remainder of the run was confined to road work, and down Look-out Point, back to the school, Caradus, Crawford, and Norman being first home. BAPTIST. The club held their five-mile club championship and sealed handicap from the St. Kilda Bathing Pavilion. Leaving the pavilion the course followed Victoria road to the St. Clair tennis courts, thence bn to Lovers’ Lane, which was followed to the Anderson’s Bay Cemetery gates. Circling round the back of tho cemetery the trail led down tho new road past the Tainui School following Tahuua and Victoria roads, turning up again on to Lovers’ Lane just beyond the battery to finish at the Beach road. Ten runners faced tho starter (Mr S. E. Gibson). After covering a mile Campbell and Duncan had taken tho lead from Graham, Stewart, and Benfell. Shortly after Graham fell back and at the cemetery gates Campbell and Duncan maintained a lead of 30 yards from Benfell and Stewart. Kenned/ also was showing good form at this stage. Passing the Tainui School Campbell began to break away from Duncan, as also did Benfell from Stewart. Graham began to pick up form again. Running strongly to the finish Campbell widened the gap from Duncan to win a well-judged race by 50 yards in the good time of 30min 56sec. Benfell finished ’strongly _4O yards further back.
