Woman Referee Retires.
Mrs Belle Martell, who made history as the first woman boxing referee in the world, had a short career in that capacity, for she retired after one big town appearance. In all fairness to the good lady, it must bo admitted that every oversea report on her refereeing was a boost, but sports writers from all parts of America hollered so loud and long that Belle gave a man’s game back to the men. and said she was finished with the fight game for good.
