GREEN SHEEP

Some time ago a farmer friend noticed that his sheep appeared to have green wool on them. Closer examination revealed that each animal had grass growing on his back! In their wanderings over the hillsides, the animals had picked up a large quantity of grass seeds. Owing to a spell of rainy weather, the seeds were kept supplied with plenty of moisture, and they soon started to germinate. The small roots found a good hold in the wool, and the grass blades were able to grow upwards, so that the sheep’s backs were like miniature fields. —“ St. Mungo,” Glasgow.
