WOMEN'S GAMES
The concluding round of senior fixtures were played on the Ovql under good conditions. _ On faster grounds play was much brighter. With one exception games were evenly contested. College won without difficulty against Kings 11., and Dunedin had a great fight against Momona. Brighton went much better and took the decision against Varsity, In a sternly-contested match the two top teams had a hard struggle, and Otago were perhaps a shade lucky to take the decision. They will play off for the championship next Saturday prior to- the senior trial. DUNEDIN v. MOMONA. Momona attacked, but found the Red defence too good to break. Mid-field play saw Dunedin break away and Momona was called on to stem the attack. It was even going with both sides doing their best; lack of understanding among the forwards was the cause of poor scoring. Good defence was a feature of the game; the tackling was good but both sets of halves failed to place to advantage. It was an even struggle all through. Dunedin 1 Momona 0 * COLLEGE v. KINGS 11. From the initial bully, College attacked, fine combination being a feature of their play. Kings were kept on the defence. Their play, considering the hostile attack, proved very sound in the back division; the'forwards failed against a sound ■ tackling rearguard. The Students, with a good supply of the ball, kept the pressure on, and had the better <jf the game. The forward line had ample opportunities to score, and a rather one-sided game resulted:— College 14, Kings 11. 0. BRIGHTON v. VARSITY. Brighton showed a Welcome return to form by, taking the honours in a hard g&me against the Students. Much ragged, play throughout the game spoilt the match, neither side showing much combined work. Poor forward work ffiiled against sound tackling, and Brighton, forcing the play in the latter stages, won a well-contested game, Brighton 3, Varsity 2. KINGS I. v. OTAGO. Otago needed a straight-out win to have a chance of taking the championship, and set out in fine style to press home attacks. Kings met them with determined defence and play, in the early , stages, was of an up-and-doWn nature. 'Both sets of forwards had chances, put over-eagerness Spoilt their efforts. It was fast, open play, the halves feeding nicely to the forwards, who found difficulty in breaking , through. Kings showed better understanding irk the front line, and had Otago troubled'when Miss Harley got away in a pood movement. R. Morton cleared, and play settled in midfield. W. Ryan scored a hot one, and B. Cumberbeach equalised. Up-and-down play continued fast, and Ofago scored again, but it was a weak shot. Both battled hard in the dying stages of the game, and Kings missed with some hot ones. Final: Otago 2, Kings 1. B GRADE. Momona 3, University 0. Dunedin 2, Kirigs 1. Taieri 4, Otago 2. C GRADE. Otago 1, Bounty 0.
