USED OIL REFINING

INDUSTRY NOW UNDER EFFICIENCY ACT [Pee United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, August 9. The industry of used oil_ refining has been brought within the licensing provisions of the Industrial Efficiency Act. In a-statement to-day, the Minister (Mr Sullivan) said investigations had been made as to the possibility of utilising waste oil in view, of the need for economy during war time, and it was considered that it would be in the interests of the community if the industry were put on an efficient basis. It was now necessary for those already engaged in refining to apply to the Bureau of Industry before August 22 for licenses to continue in the industry, while any persons who contemplated commencing must .first make application to the bureau for a license.
