BUILDING RENOVATIONS HEEDED There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Glad-stone-Leith Valley Presbyterian Church, held on Wednesday night in the Dalmore Church. The moderator (Dr J. D. Salmond) presided. The important place the church occupies in the life of a community was stressed by the moderator, who congratulated the people on the marked progress made during the year, and urged all present to a greater loyalty to the church and the things for which it stands.
The student missionary (Mr H. J. Crawford, of Knox College) gave a resume of the work of the year in the three destricts—Dalmore, Leith Valley, and Pine Hill. The report of the session was presented by Mr lleekie, who paid a tribute to the work of the Itev. H. Hogg, former moderator of the parish. The treasurer’s statement, presented by Mr Simpson, revealed a credit balance of £l2 on the year’s working. Miss Budd reported on the Sunday
schools of the parish, and also on behalf of the Busy Bees. Mrs Bush spoke on behalf of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, and Mrs Hodding for the Women’s Social Committee. In the discussion which ensued after the reading of the reports gratification was expressed at the progress made during the year in all departments of the church’s work. It was agreed to approach the presbytery with a view to carrying through a scheme for the renovation of the church buildings.
