MANCHESTER UNITY
N.G. Bro. E. J. Williams presided at the monthly meeting of Loyal Middlemarch Lodge. Proceedings were conducted in mourning for the late Bro. W. G. Thompson. Regret was expressed at the resignation of V.G. Bro. S. Ginea who is leaving the district. The election of officers resulted in: N.G., Bro. C. J. Williams; V.G., Sister P. Keast; E.S., Sister S. Pedofsky; warden, Sister M. Matheson; guardian, Bro. J. Campbell; 1.P.N.G., Bro. J. E. Schrieffer; conductor, P.G. Sister E. Valentine. At a special meeting of Loyal Maniototo Lodge, Ranfurly, N.G. Bro. Wilson welcomed some 60 visiting sisters and brethren of 13 lodges throughout the district.
Loyal Caversham Lodge met on Wednesday evening under the control of N.G. Bro. Aide. Considerable discussion ensued on the matter of advertising lodge meetings. The previous motion on the matter being rescinded, a suggestion by P.P.G.M. Bro. E. Hey was adopted. The Prov. P.G.M. Bro.
Boardman adjudicated in a debate, married members versus single, on the subject of ‘ Town Life Versus Country Life,’ the former taking the affirmative and proving too strong for the opposition. Members accepted an invitation to attend the official visit of sister lodges to Loyal Valley on Monday evening next.
