ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY

304 PEASANTS LIBERATED Recently the Otago Acclimatisation Society liberated about 300 pheasants, small numbers being put in each of the following places : —Kilmog, Corner Bush, Orbell’s Crossing, Heckler’s, Matanaka, Tumai, Brighton-Kuri Bush district (four liberations), Black Bridge, North Taieri, Leishnian’s, back road, Wylie’s Crossing, Wairongoa, Woodside, and Harvey’s Flat. Cock pheasants may be shot only by those who have taken out licenses to shoot, the daily limit being two. A heavy penalty attaches to the shooting of any hen pheasants.
