SOUTH DUNEDIN COMMUNITY SING
The flavour of the Australian outbacks pervaded the South Dunedin community sing held in the Mayfair Theatre to-day. It was a “ Dad and Dave ” day, and the three principal characters of the well-known Snake Gully family, Dad, Dave, and Mabel, were impersonated (in full dress) by Leader R. M'Kenzie, , Song-leader Fred. Wilson, and Pianist Mrs E. Cameron. Members of the sing committee were also garbed in_ the latest Snake Gully fashions. Prior to the commencement of the sing the committee paraded outside the theatre to the accompaniment of musical honours by the “ Snake Gullv Tin Whistle Band,” and. this preliminary set a joyous foundation for uhe sing proper. This was very well attended, the theatre being filled. Items were given bv Mr Ray Meinung (songs) and by Miss Molly Baker (recitations), while Messrs W. T. Beveridge and S. Jeffs, of the committee) rendered the ‘ Beer Barrel Polka ’ on tin whistles. The collection amounted to £2O.
