EXPLOSION OF BITUMEN.

Two men wore emptying a drum of bitumen into a sprayer 'used by the Public Works Department on the Palmerston overbridge yesterday afternoon when the bitumen exploded. These were Robert Walsh, a lorry driver employed bv Mr J. C. Hope (Palmerston), and.E. Malcolm (Balclutha). Walsh received burns on the hands, arm, and face, and was admitted to hospital at 7.30 p.m. Malcolm's injuries were not so severe.
