POSITION IN NORWAY. LONDON, April 28.—The thrust by a Ger/nan mechanised column across the mountains westward from Roros Ims slowed down, according to a reliable source, and strong British units are reported to have occupied a high plateau in the region of Jerkin, commanding the Damaas-Storen railway in order to moot any German attempt to cut the railway. A Norwegian communique says troops seriously engaged the Germans in the Halliu and Named Valleys, in the Bergon-0-sld sector, but wore forced to retire to new positions. The communique described the German advance as unimportant, but admitted the loss of Voss. It added that one Gorman plane was shot down and that three made forced landings during bombing attacks on Allied-Norwegiun forces.
