REOPENING POSTPONED MACHINES USED FOR DEFENCE PURPOSES Pres* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, April 25. (Received April 26, at 1 a.m.) The postponement of the prospective reopening of the transatlantic air services for 1940 was announced when the Under-Secretary for Air stated in the House of Commons that recent developments had necessitated the diversion of aircraft intended for this service to “ certain defence purposes for which they were particularly suited.” Mr Balfour added that the step had been taken reluctantly and''every effort would be made to reopen the service as soon as circumstances permitted.
