MANCHESTER UNITY
More than ordinary interest was evinced in the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Centenary Lodge. N.G. Bro. Thomas presided and welcomed _ five members of the District Executive—the newly-elected Prov. G.M., Bro, H. Masters; his deputy, Prov. D.G.M. Bro. J. Boardman; Prov. Tfeas. Bro. W. Sellar; and district officers Bros. W. Cooper/and R. J. Hanrahan. Bro. Boardman is the second member of the lodge to receive district honours. Later the lodge went into recess, and members were entertained by the Prov. D.G.M. and the Prov. Treas.
The principal item of business at the meeting of Loyal Princess Mary Lodge was the reception of reports on proceedings at the recent district meeting of Sisters Clark and Longworth. Prov. Treas. Bro. Sellar introduced to the meeting the newly-appointed Prov. G.M. and Prov. D.G.M. At the conclusion of business a programme featuring Scotch items was presented An excellent attendance greeted N.G. Bro. A. G. Compton at the meeting of Loyal Roxburgh. Sympathy was expressed with P.G. Bro. E. Dunlay, at present an inmate in Dunedin Hospital. A donation of £6 was made to the Salvation Army and Y.W.O.A. appeals, and a similar amount to the Otago patriotic fund. Congratulations were extended to Loyal Tuapeka Pioneer Lodge on winning the Efficiency Shield, and satisfaction expressed that. Roxburgh had been placed second.
N.G. Bro. Allan presided over a good meeting of Loyal Caversham. The Prov. G.M., the Prov. D.G.M., and Prov. Treas. were in attendance. Invitations were accepted for attendance at meetings of Loyal Princess Mary, Albion, and Hand and_ Heart Lodges. A number of members signified their intention of attending the official visit to Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, .Port Chalmers. One candidate was initiated. The lodge will meet early at next meeting in order to entertain juvenile members. Sisters and brethren engaged in dancing, some 50 couples taking the floor to the music supplied by P.G. Bro. Bachop. In the absence of the N.G., Bro. J. Craig occupied the chair at the meeting of Loyal Mosgiel. Arrangements were made for the reception of sister lodges on May 7. The lodge will be represented at the official visit to Loyal Milton on April 27. At a meeting of the Jubilee Committee congratulatory messages were received from a _number of lodges on the hospitality enjoyed at all jubilee functions.
